Siddiqi Ray is so much more than a gifted photographer, life coach, yoga teacher, and recovery expert. Siddiqi is, by her own admission, on a serious mission. Her goal? To dispel the lie we’ve all bought into, that we are somehow not enough. “We numb that lie out with addiction, or relationships, or shopping, or overachieving, or perfection, or whatever it is….All we want is to dull out the pain of that lie that is embedded in ourselves.”

In our interview, Siddiqi describes:

• How one small postcard changed the trajectory of her life.
• Her journey from NYU film school to St Vincent’s psych ward.
• The secret formula that turns lead to gold.
• How the yoga master Baron Baptiste slapped her into reality.
• Why being excruciatingly vulnerable is your greatest power.
• What we have in common with snorting dragons

We also talked about how having a plastic surgeon for a father helped spur an eating disorder, the grace and compassion she found in 12-step programs, how she gets her photo subjects to reveal their souls, and the real definition of intimacy. “Intimacy is Into Me I See. We can’t really have any intimacy with another until we can cultivate a sense of intimacy with ourselves.”
