Here's what I learned TOTALLY by accident. Personal story sells.

Writing

This book is about to blow up the marketplace

August 7, 2023

August 15, 2023. That’s the official publication date of Calm the Chaos by parenting expert Dayna Abraham. Now, that might not mean much, particularly if you’re not the target audience for this book. (Why buy a book on parenting if you’ve never had kids or the birds have left the nest?) But you might want to pay attention to the promotion campaign Dayna’s currently running, particularly if you plan to write your own expert-positioning book. Because this woman can teach you a thing or three about how to drive book sales, even before publication.

In the interview below, Dayna and I discussed the process we worked through to create her book proposal, then write the manuscript once she snagged a HUGE deal. We talked about the ups and downs, the mistakes, the pressure, how she landed an agent….but what we did not discuss is her pre-order process.

It’s a thing of beauty.

Dayna has spent the last six months encouraging readers to buy a book they can’t actually read until… next week.

Why would anybody purchase something they can’t use straight away? Not my MO, for sure.

To get readers to pre-order, an author has to sweeten the deal. They’ve got to include a reason to purchase the book NOW and give them some immediate gratification. They’ve also got to show purchasers–step-by-step–how to buy, then access the bonuses because it’s not intuitive.

BTW, the reason publishing companies and their authors run pre-orders is to drive the sales numbers necessary for Best Seller lists and retail store interest.

If you want to see how Dayna worked her magic, head on over to her pre-order page. If you know someone who could use ANY of the juicy bonuses that will have you clicking the buy link, not to mention the book itself–which has gone to second printing before the book has EVEN been launched–forward them this email. Do so before this page comes down.

Better yet, buy the book for them. Now, rather than later.
