The Curse of the Natural

If you want to write a book but hesitate because you don’t consider yourself a gifted writer, you may be suffering under The Curse Of The Natural. You assume that if you’re not great at something straight out of the gate, you should set it aside because you’re just not meant to play in that arena. Why bother if it’s hard?

Some things take practice. Writing well is one of them. Lose the fixed mindset and dare to be lousy for a good long time. That’s how most of us mortals get good.

I have a lonnnnnngggg history of believing things should come easily, which, if you ask me, is something of a joke. But I’m happy to explain what that wake up call looked like for me.
