Here's what I learned TOTALLY by accident. Personal story sells.

What’s Your Biggest Regret?

February 26, 2016

Walt and I have been spent the last week lying around poolside. (BTW, I have to look up laying vs lying every goddamn time. Here’s a link that explains the difference, for your convenience.)

On the surface, this sounds pretty dreamy, but after a few days of this, I’m about ready to lose my mind. I’ve mentioned this before: We have a helluva time sitting still.  Like sharks, we can’t breathe properly unless we’re swimming non-stop. Hopefully, we’ll be paddling on the Sea of Cortes by the time you read this, so I’d like you to envision us all bright-eyed and busy-tailed. Thanks.

I can’t help noticing the plethora of American retirees here in La Cruz, Mexico.  Not a surprise, what with the dollar punching the crap out of the peso in the currency exchange.  Plus there’s sun, and sea, and tequila flowing out of every public fountain, which, after a winter of rain and snow and overcast skies, can start looking pretty good even to the likes of fair-skinned me.  But, unless you’re an avid golfer, or a fisherman, or an open-water swimmer, or a horrible alcoholic, I can’t figure out what you’re supposed to do all day. (Do these retirees have any sense of what the sun has done to their hides? That shit has GOT to hurt.)

Anyway, all of this is sort of a preamble to this video I came across while hunched over my computer in the shade. It’s all about regrets. It’s about that moment of recognition that, unless you’re dead, you have time to wipe the slate clean and start afresh. I hope it inspires you to pursue your dreams–be it retire to Mexico or swim the English Channel– to right the wrongs, to reach out to that person you wished you’d kept in touch with.
